Description
A totally ordered, resumable, range-segmented stream of store keys under root prefixes - the one shared enumeration primitive every whole-store sweep (garbage collection, retention eviction, derived-metadata rebuild) rides instead of hand-rolling its own list() loop.
One enumerated key.
The shared rebuild pass: one walk over the pointer roots feeding every WalkConsumer - so N metadata rebuilders never mean N tree walks.
The walk half of the two-route derived-metadata contract.
One walk pass as recorded in the consumer's manifest (walks/<consumer>/manifest): a monotonically increasing generation (the pass id every segment claim embeds, so a stale segment object from an earlier pass is recognisably reclaimable), the roots the pass enumerates, when it started, how its segments stand, and whether it is still running.
A pass is running until its last segment is done.
A named factory for the shared ArtifactWalk, discovered at runtime with ServiceLoader - the API is an SPI kept separate from its implementation, so the enumeration strategy can change without breaking a consumer.
One claimable slice of a walk pass: a half-open key range [from, to) under one root in the total lexicographic key order (null bounds run to the root's start / end), plus the claim embedded in the same compare-and-set store object (walks/<consumer>/segments/<nn>) - state, the holder worker, the claim's expiry, and the cursor high-water mark of the last committed checkpoint.
The claim lifecycle; PENDING also stands in for a stale object left by an earlier generation.
